Meet The Founder

Emma Boonstra is the founder of Fieldstone Creative and the maker and creator behind the brand.

She graduated from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, via the Walter B. Ford II Award of Excellence Scholarship in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and a focus in advertising. Emma quickly found her niche, first and foremost, as a lifestyle photographer and marketing manager in 2016. Since then, she's been building her business and craft on the foundational belief that visual storytelling and digital marketing should not only coexist but also enhance one another.

Her expertise is in strategic marketing through a variety of creative services. She has over eight years of experience in visual communications, digital marketing, strategic content creation, brand development, and professional lifestyle photography.

When she isn’t behind her camera or writing about herself in the third person, you will find her tending to her garden, trying a new recipe, enjoying a strong cup of coffee on her porch, or hiking in the woods with her husband, Kevin, and loveable golden retriever, Rosie.

My Story

Like many customers, I started Fieldstone Creative with numerous ideas of what I wanted my brand to look like and become. It took me over ten years to realize that it was time to let go of the 9 to 5, build the courage, and plunge into opening up my own LLC. Becoming a business owner is intimidating and challenging, but there is beauty in being empowered to take control of your narrative.

Fieldstone Creative was always in the back of my mind. The name is inspired by our fieldstone-built home in Chelsea, Michigan, where my creative studio is located. The natural rocks that line the walls of my studio were harvested from the mud of local farm fields in 1900 and collected by masons to build the foundation of our fieldstone home. Over a century later, it’s inspired Fieldstone Creative and everything we stand for; hard work, grassroots entrepreneurship, beauty, and integrity.
